To free glassmaking to this degree, to liberate form to such an extent that it appears to be returning to its own more primitive or organic state - indeed, to be in the process of perpetually evolving within that state is the real achievement. That Chihuly’s works seem both impossible and alive is not so much confounding as convincing. Because, of course, they are really at rest and possessed of a clarity of form, they seem to arrest the ineffable. With all their richness of suggestion, they succeed in condensing the transient, the exotic and the intuitive, idealizing, as it were, the phenomenally subliminal and mysterious. (This is not to infer that there’s a dark side to the Seaforms . That’s a subject due his later series, the Niijima Floats .) The Seaforms are inclusive and outreaching. Their forms, skins and pigmentation seem innocently offered. We see through them. They open up and curl in a kind of voluptuous solicitation, restorative and generous, in a sensuous repose. Their initial seductiveness is more than skin deep. Their concentrated vitality and unvarying accessibility assure us that our delight in their presence offers a deeper awareness of a similar potential in ourselves.

Just in time for the holidays, Tchaikovsky's beloved  Nutcracker Ballet  returns on Thursday, November 30th, at 7:30pm with the dazzling Eugene Ballet. Live music by the Idaho Falls Symphony brings the magical story to life— for one night only —with sets and costumes by former Disney designers plus expert choreography and professional dancers. The Idaho Falls School of Ballet has organized local dancers to perform student roles in the production, offering a unique side-by-side opportunity with the Eugene Ballet, and the Hillcrest Varsity Chorale will join the Symphony for the iconic Waltz of the Snowflakes. A morning school will be performed by the Symphony and Eugene Ballet for 1,900 local elementary school students.

Hi Roscoe, Ouch, a tattoo, better get it right, no corrections, right? Actually, if you’re tattoo-ing a mantra, that’s a good one… long life:-) Problem is you have Sanskrit version, Tibetan version, and then you have Sanskrit letters and Tibetan letters. As English characters, meant for chanting, . transliteration the SANSKRIT transliteration is: Om Tare Tuttare Ture Mama Ayuh Punya Jnana Pustim Kuru Svaha (but some people capitalize the letters, some don’t), but it’s pronounced with some “SH” sounds (Pustim is Pushtim)… so I’d strongly suggest for a Tattoo you consider Sanskrit or Tibetan lettering, not English. It seems more genuine. Most Tatts I’ve seen are in Tibetan or Sanskrit characters rather than English. Some people tattoo the Seed syllable and then the rest in English. So it depends on what you’d like. The best authority for getting it right (for all three: Sanskrit, Tibetan and English) would be . The page for White Tara is HERE: http:///white- . That site is very reliable. You’ll see they have Tibetan Uchen type version as well as Siddham (Sanskrit) typography there.
